Director’s Message

Economics underpins many of the phenomena unfolding around us every day. In our daily lives, we are called to make choices at our homes and in the marketplace, how much to spend and save, how to allocate our savings between different kinds of financial assets and so on.  It is a basic civic literacy requirement. As the Indian economy becomes more sophisticated and more connected with the rest of the world, the demand for economists in government, business and policy-making will rise. The deep insights into customer behavior, business strategy and volatile markets that economics provides can help companies make intelligent decisions to promote greater business growth and success. The services of well-trained, competent economists are in great demand, and the demand is expected to grow in the coming years with the continuing economic reform process and globalisation of the economy. The number of young economists being produced alongside the shrinking number of centres of excellence is far from adequate to meet this rapid growth in demand for high-quality professionals from the public and private sectors, in addition to meeting the needs of universities.

Since its inception in 2008, K. N. Raj Study Centre for Planning and Centre-State Financial Relations (KNRC) has been committed to be the leading academic Centre for innovative interdisciplinary research and training in Economics. We work hard to make every day of learning, a special day for every student who enters  KNRC, with a heart and mind set to grow more than yesterday. Our objective is to provide a safe and secure environment in which every student will acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to become accomplished, productive members of the ever-changing, global community. Our faculty is a very dedicated group of experienced individuals who continue to focus on providing the best possible instruction for our students. We facilitate our students to not just excel in the subject, but also equip them to perform effectively in any environment.

I believe that students of KNRC will excel in the field they will be getting into with their practical insights, professional skills and sensitivity towards society. I wish them all the best.
